Understanding Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

What Is HBOT?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber, allowing your lungs to absorb more oxygen than at normal air pressure. This enriched oxygen is then transported by the bloodstream to promote healing and reduce inflammation.

How Does HBOT Work?

In a hyperbaric chamber, the air pressure is increased 2 to 3 times higher than normal. This enables the lungs to gather more oxygen, which is crucial for:

  • Repairing damaged tissues
  • Stimulating new blood vessel growth
  • Supporting overall recovery

HBOT is a non-invasive therapy used in both medical and wellness settings to enhance healing processes.

Conditions Treated with HBOT

HBOT has been found relevant in various conditions, including:

  • Decompression sickness
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Trauma causing blocked blood flow
  • Infections leading to tissue death
  • Non-healing wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers
  • Tissue and skin grafts after burn injuries
  • Tissue damage from radiation therapy
  • Sudden hearing or vision loss

Increasing oxygen levels in the body can accelerate healing and reduce inflammation. HBOT can be a valuable support for various health concerns.
